James Construction provided renovation and construction services to transform a neo-Georgian structure into an architecturally dynamic building reflecting the Museum’s mission to enhance the public’s experience of American art.
A new south façade visually frames the original brick building with a two-story colonnade. The reconfigured interior of the existing museum establishes a new entry sequence linking north and south entries. A glass stair set within a new double-height volume leads to the upper level and the cantilever gallery.
“The expertise James Construction brought to our project, from a dedicated Superintendent to highly skilled trades, enabled us to help bring a complex and beautiful building into reality.” – Judith O’Toole, CEO, Westmoreland Museum of American Art.
