James Construction completed a Design-Build Service to upgrade the locker room, showers and restroom facilities for a WWII era wood barrel vault gymnasium facility at the New Port Naval Station.

The project involved creating a new two story independent structure within the existing single story wood structure while maintaining daily operations of the gymnasium facilities.

Work included foundation excavation within the existing building footprint, structural steel framing, concrete slabs and elevated decks, and new locker rooms, restrooms and support offices. The project also included upgrading electrical service for the entire facility, new water service and a new wet sprinkler system.
