James Construction provided design/build services needed to modify an existing Linear Accelerator room to accommodate a radiation therapy equipment upgrade.

Specifications for the new Varian trilogy unit required complete demolition of the existing room, reworking the concrete foundation, underground pipe rough-in, and the installation of structural steel and lead to increase the load capacity in the room. Additional lead bricks were installed for radiation shielding. An environmentally therapeutic virtual skylight was installed to aid patients receiving radiation treatment.

James Construction worked closely with the VA Hospital and engineer, performing design, demolition, construction and fit-out services under the design/build delivery method. The project was concluded successfully, on time and within budget.
