James Construction renovated the existing main entrance and patient check-in area of the VA Pittsburgh Healthcare System, University Drive Division medical center. Patient check-in areas and business office functions were reorganized to comply with the Veterans Administration’s new “way-finding” patient flow system. The main entrance to this 145 bed facility remained in use throughout construction.
James Construction lead a value-engineering initiative to utilize an improved, highly-resilient and attractive Marlite wall system in all public areas in lieu of the specified system.
James Construction’s extensive experience working in environmentally critical work sites and functioning high-traffic areas enabled on-time completion of all five phases of the 10-month project. The final contract including change orders was less than 5.5% of the original contract.
