James Construction is firmly committed to environmentally responsible building practices for over a decade. Our staff coordinates directly with the owner, architect, and consultants during all stages of design and construction to ensure that sustainability goals are met. James’ collaborative team project approach is particularly effective in implementing green building practices. Integrating all aspects of construction from the start enhances performance-based decision making throughout the life of the project.

James ensures that our staff is invested in our sustainable design and construction goals and can contribute to meeting those goals by mandating sustainability training. James employs several in-house PHAUS Certified Passive House Consultants, LEED AP BD+C, and LEED Green Associates certified employees specializing in commercial buildings. James is proud to have all of its Project Managers and many of its Project Superintendents certified as LEED Accredited Professionals.

The knowledge and experience of the onsite personnel is critical to achieving the desired degree of success in any aspect of the project. This is particularly true of the High Performance Buildings and LEED Certification requirements, for which construction materials and practices are reviewed under different standards than those used in traditional construction projects.

Green design practices can substantially reduce negative environmental impacts and reverse the trend of unsustainable construction activities. In addition, green building construction reduces operating costs, enhances marketability of buildings, increases worker productivity, and reduces potential liability resulting from indoor air quality problems.

James Construction’s Energy Assurance Program

The goal of the Program is improved building performance construction defined by a dramatic decrease in Energy Utilization Intensity (EUI) balanced with financial payback measures. It is the objective of the Program to create a passive-first EUI strategic solution by integrating 21st century building science knowledge with cross-disciplinary integration; specifically Passive House, USGBC LEED, and Living Building- Net Zero principals. Using customized financial payback ROI models, we analyze the intersection of financial tolerances with planned EUI targets of the design strategies. USGBC LEED Program

sealLEED accreditation begins in the concept phase of the design process. James and members of the project team work together with the owner and its representative to identify the project’s LEED goals and identify the best-practice methods of achieving the required LEED rating. We will provide the owner with critical information related to any and all LEED and/or cost related decisions. James will provide the necessary LEED accredited staff to successfully complete the project and achieve the required rating.
