James’ Comprehensive Safety and Health Program James has designed a comprehensive Safety and Health Program to mitigate or eliminate situations that could lead to personal injury and/or property damage, and to protect the interests of its employees, the customer, and the public, from the results of accidents. James develops a site specific Safety Plan for each project to address the special hazards of that project. Our Corporate Safety Officer and Project Superintendents train employees in the practice of safety, and conduct on-going safety training throughout the year. To facilitate the administration of our safety program on all projects, we perform weekly job site inspections, weekly and monthly safety training’s and review our company-wide safety rules with all our subcontractors. James’ Aggressive Enforcement Policies James takes an aggressive, proactive stance regarding safety by strictly enforcing the policies and procedures in James’own published Environmental, Safety & Health Policies and Procedures Manual and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers EM 385-1-1, Safety and Health Requirements Manual. Our Corporate Safety Officer strictly enforces all local, state, and federal Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA) 1926 Construction Standards and monitors and maintains safe practices on the job site. Pennsylvania Safety Committee Certification li_logo_smallIn recognition of our dedication and commitment to workplace safety, James Construction has been granted Workplace Safety Committee Certification by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry Bureau of Workers Compensation Health and Safety Division. An annual review by a professional safety administrator is required to maintain certification. James construction is very proud to have been re-certified, without exception, since our inception in the PennSafe program in 2004. OSHA Certification James’ Corporate Safety Officer is an OSHA Outreach Instructor and all Project Managers, Project Engineers and Superintendents have completed the OSHA 30-hour training course. All field employees with James Construction are required to at least complete OSHA 10-hour training. James’ Commitment to Comprehensive Safety Training redcrossOur Safety Officer is certified to instruct in American Red Cross CPR/First Aid/AED, and all Project Managers, Engineers and Superintendents are trained in CPR and First Aid. Additional mandatory trainings for our employees include hazardous recognition, hazardous communication, confined space, personal protective equipment, tools, lock out/tag out, fall protection, scaffolding, excavation/trenching, stairways and ladders and drug free awareness as well as site specific safety and health awareness training.
